Beauty Breakthrough: CND Vinylux Weekly Nail Polish…could it be true?!

posted in Nails by

From the makers of Shellac comes CND Vinylux Nail Polish. The concept of these is that they are a ‘weekly’ nailpolish meaning that they are meant to (are you ready for this?) last up to a week! They have the wear (almost!) of Shellac but they can be removed by regular nail polish remover. Sound too good to be true? Read on.

As great as Shellac is, the cost and the pain of removing the polish prevents me from getting regularly Shellac’d. So, when I discovered these at my local beauty supply store, I scooped up a few colors and eagerly drove home to try them out.

No basecoat is required for these as they are meant to adhere to your natural nail. You apply two coats of the non-staining (yes it’s true!) polish and one coat of the Vinylux top coat. The top coat is meant to cure over time under either natural UV light or artificial light. It actually it gets stronger with longer wear. The best part is, they are super fast drying (about 8-10 minutes!).

The color range is fantastic. There are over 60 colors to choose from. I definitely had a hard time choosing cause they had so many great ones.

I’ve been using these now for over a month and I must say, they really do last on my nails. . I’ve used several of the colors now and they have all had pretty good wear on me. A couple of the darker colors showed a little wear around my right index finger after 3 or 4 days but it was barely noticeable. I don’t usually wear the same polish color for a whole week as I like to change it up after 4 or 5 days. But with regular polish, I normally have to change it after 4-5 days because it’s chipped so badly. Instead, I now change it simply because I want to!

Not everyone will have the same experience with these as all nail polishes will wear differently on different people. For me, I am thrilled that I found these as they really do work for my nails. However, if you are a regular Shellac user or a fan of top coats like Seche Vite, you will notice that you don’t get the same amount of thickness and shine. And even though I am a big fan of a good shiny topcoat, the ease of use, the longevity and the color selection is unbeatable. I particularly love all the shades of greys and beiges in this line. As you can see in the colors I have below, I am a big fan of “greige”.

Two of my favorite things about these are the great colors and the extremely fast dry time. If I am dressed and ready to go (provided that I’ve buckled my shoes and have my keys in hand), I can do a quick polish change with 15 minutes to go before I head out the door.

To be honest, I don’t know how often I will be reaching for any other nail polish. At least for the time being :).
